CHINESE NATIONAL CONFERENCE OF MEDICAL CHRONOBIOLOGY.
News report on:
2009 Chinese National Conference on Medical Chronobiology (Huangshan, P.R. China, April 13-16, 2009)
The 2009 Chinese National Conference on Medical Chronobiology was held successfully in Huangshan, P.R. China during April 13-16, 2009.
The meeting was organized by Chinese Society of Medical Chronobiology, the Chinese Association of the Integration of Traditional and Western Medicine. In the evening of April 13, the second reunited meeting of Chinese Society of Medical Chronobiology took place. There were more young chronobiologists joined the Chinese Society of Medical Chronobiology, especially those works in the frontiers of science and chronobiology. This meeting was focused on possible national collaboration in the field of chronobiology and clinical application of chronomedicine. The discussion was active and many good ideas have been suggested. We expected that our meeting could supply an opportunity for the national wide exchange and collaborations. Besides, the next Chinese national conference on medical chronobiology was decided to be held in 2011. There were about sixty abstracts presented in the proceedings and more than sixty people from all over the country attended the 2009 Chinese National Conference on Medical Chronobiology. Besides, Dr. Edmunds from USA presented in the conference and has reported a wonderful review titled “signal transduction between circadian oscillators and cell cycle clocks”. Other 10 presentations were addressed in the conference, which concerned the recent advances in chronobiological experimental or clinical studies, especially in China. In basic medical research field, Dr. Tong Jian, from Suzhou University (Suzhou), presented their research results on circadian expression of clock gene and its physiological function; Dr. Xian Li-Jian, from Sun Yat-Sen University (Guangzhou), reviewed data of clock gene on tumor suppressing; Dr. He Qi-Yang, from Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (Beijing), reported the research progress on the pattern of circadian clock in Neurospora crassa; Dr. Zhou Qi-Zhi, from Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Chengdu), reported the regulatory effect of acupuncture on biological clock. In the application field, Dr. Sun Jian from Sun Yat-Sen University, reported their chronopharmacological study results on 5-Fu and cis-platinum complexes in nude mouse with nasopharyngeal carcinoma；Dr. Xu Feng (Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, Shenyang) reported on the chronobiology characteristic of therapeutic index in the combined chemotherapy with cis-platinum complexes, doxorubicin and cyclo- phosphamide; Dr. Zhao Zi-Yan (Shandong Academy of Medical Sciences, Jinan) reported on the chronomedical regulations on blood pressure morning-surge, etc.
During the conference, most of the participants have visited the area of Huangshan as well and enjoyed greatly of the natural beauty and local culture of some old villages. The conference was closed on 16th, April. We regret of leaving Huangshan with wonderful remembrances of both academic exchanges and the beautiful mountain.
