Dear Colleagues
 
The "Third International congress of Applied Chronobiology and ChronoMedicine" will held, from May 17th to May 22nd 2009, at Palm Beach Hotel, located in the city of Akko (acre), Israel.
 
The first announcement was published in the ISC web site (www.chronoint.org), menu item – "Chrono activities."
 
The following domains were suggested for presentations.
 
Application of Chronobiology methods to Human Ecology: Agriculture, Animal and Avian husbandry.
 
Cancer and circadian rhythm disruption.
Chronobiology of aging (from womb to tomb)
Chronobiology of chronic inflammatory states and immune dysregulation.
Chronobiology of sport medicine.
Chronobiology of neurological disorders
Circadian phase manipulation: shift work,  trans meridian travel, etc.
 
Gender issues in medical chronobiology and chronotherapeutics.
 
Human and Mammalian Chronopharmacology.
Hypertension and cardiovascular diseases.
 
Light pollution.
Light treatment of rhythm disorders.
Light, mood and psychological well-being.
 
Melatonin treatment of rhythm disorders.
Molecular Chronomedicine.
 
Nutrition and body weight regulation.
 
Performance at the work place:
1.      Vigilance management in continuous industrial operations.
2.      Cognitive and performance rhythms.
 
Rhythm polymorphism and desynchronization
Rhythms and social pathologies (suicide, drug addiction, alcoholism, sexual abuse, etc.
 
Vertebrate pest control: pesticide application times
Vertebrate pest control: Photoperiodic activity.
 
Please note that in this meeting we encourage presentation of chrono - studies from the domains of Agriculture, Ecology and Human Behavior patterns
 
A letter of "Participation intent" was attached to the first announcement and many colleagues have responded affirmatively.
 
PRIOR PUBLISHING THE SECOND ANNOUNCEMENT WE WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS TO THE FOLLOWING ISSUES:
 
Domains: Please be so kind to view the domains list and suggest additional domains you consider are worthy of presentation.
 
Structure and context of sessions: Minimizing the number of Plenary (General and Review) sessions and placing more emphasis of Current Research presentation and discussion sessions. Elaborated studies will be presented in a time frame of 15 minutes and short or preliminary studies in the frame time of 5 min presentation accompanied by a poster or by poster – without presentation to be discussed next to the poster.
Description of a "case report" with relevance to Chronobiology would be presented in the latter 2 categories.
 
Please view your opinion about the Structure and context of sessions. Please be  so kind to offer suggestions that may benefit the organization of the sessions.
 
THE FOLLOWING ARE INFORMATIONAL ITEMS.  
 
The meeting will be preceded by one day seminar offered to local Physicians and in which the following selected topics will be presented.
 
Attendants of the Meeting who will be in Israel at that time are invited to participate.
 
At the late afternoon of that day a short tour of Old Acre will take place and at  the evening of that day the Meeting will commence by an informal "ice breaking" gathering (wine and variety of local "Tapas" to be held at "Knighthalls" of the
"Crusader Fortress.
 
During the afternoon and evening of one day of the meeting a tour to Tsippori and the city of Nazareth will take place. A gala dinner will be held on the last night of the meeting or on the preceding night.
 
Post and pre tours will be offered.
 
The Palm Beach Hotel is the meeting venue. Cost of daily accommodation + Breakfast = 71$ single, 85 $ double. Additional person in the room $ 21.

A Boutique hotel on the city walls.
A student Hostel.
Information about these hotels will be supplied in the 2nd announcement.
 
Gala dinner - $45
 
Registration: Participant – 300 $ (continuous service of coffee and tea, Lunch, handbag, meeting program and book of abstracts + CD).
Registration rates of students and accompanying persons will be published in the 2nd announcement.
